City-bound?

Manchester City interested in Wilfred Zaha

Manchester City were linked to Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez last summer. The Chilean would be out of contract next season but there are reports that PSG will try to rival City for the coveted winger.

The Mirror is reporting that City have set their sights on Crystal Palace winger Wilfred Zaha. The former Manchester United winger has performed brilliantly for the struggling Eagles this campaign. He is one of the biggest reasons for the sudden revival of the Eagles. These performances have put him on the radar of some of the big clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea. The 25-year-old had a disappointing time at Manchester United and will relish the chance of making it big at a top club if given the chance.

Antonio Conte wants Virgil van Dijk

Southampton v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League
Lots of Premier League clubs have shown their interest in the Dutch defender

Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk was at the centre of major transfer controversy in summer when Liverpool had to officially apologise to the Saints for allegedly tapping up the player. Now many clubs have joined the race to sign the Dutch defender in the January window. According to the Mirror Manchester City and Chelsea are showing interest in signing the Saints centre-back.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is intent on not allowing the Premier League leaders to sign the defender. In a press conference, Conte warned other teams to not let City sign every top player as it can make it difficult for other teams to fight them. “Every team, every club, must pay great attention. Because if a club like Manchester City takes all the best [players], it will be very difficult for us to fight. Not only in England but in Europe.”

Manchester City looking to sign Philipp Max

FC Augsburg Training Session & Press Conference
Philipp Max to be signed as a cover for Mendy?

Pep Guardiola's system is hugely dependent on the performance of the full backs. There was a reason City paid big money for Benjamin Mendy who is one of the best crossers of the ball among full-backs. A long-term injury to Mendy meant Delph had to fill in him for the most part of the season.

According to Guardian, City is looking to sign a cover for Benjamin Mendy in the form of Augsburg left-back Philipp Max. City sent their scouts to watch him in his team’s recent 3-3 draw with Freiburg. The 24-year-old has 10 assists in 17 matches this season.

Arsenal to bid for Vincent Kompany?

Manchester City v Arsenal - Premier League
Time for Kompany to leave Manchester City?

Vincent Kompany has arguably been City's greatest defender in the Premier League era. But injuries have made it difficult for the Manchester City captain to get regular game time. He has missed 14 games in all competitions this season due to injuries.

According to Daily Star, Arsene Wenger could try to bid for Kompany in the January window to boost his backline. Arsenal desperately need some reinforcements at the back and are also keeping tabs on David Luiz's situation at Chelsea.

Though Kompany has had his injury problems, when fit, he would walk into most teams.
