Manchester City host Watford tonight in their first game of 2018 at the Etihad. Pep Guardiola’s men will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table after their winning run was brought to an end on New Year's Eve when they were held to a 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace. Having dropped just four points all season, they'll be confident of returning to winning ways against Watford.

Watford have a dire record against Manchester City having lost their last five meetings with the Premier League leaders, conceding 17 goals and scoring just the one. The Hornets have lost five of their last six away league fixtures and are expected to struggle here

Manchester City: John Stones was fit enough to make the bench against Crystal Palace and should return to the first team fold for the welcome of Watford. Gabriel Jesus sustained a serious knee injury at Selhurst Park and could be out for time time, while Benjamin Mendy, Phil Foden and Vincent Kompany all miss out.

Kevin De Bruyne was also forced off late on against Crystal Palace and with David Silva likely to miss out due to personal reasons, Bernardo Silva could start in the midfield.

Andre Gray, Roberto Pereyra, Jose Holebas, Sebastian Prodl and Etienne Capoue could all start for the visitors.
