Manuel Pellegrini has increased the mind games towards Jose Mourinho prior to Manchester City’s clash with Chelsea today. The match is being touted as a title decider.
He said, “We have different styles. The ethical way is the best way for me. But it’s not the only way to do it. Maybe you think [by using the media] you can have a big advantage but for me I don’t think that the normal [mind games] way is the fair way.”
A clear dig at Jose Mourinho, who is known for his outspoken nature in front of the media.
Pellegrini was also specific about Mourinho’s alleged ‘campaign against Chelsea’ and the ‘media influencing the referee’s decision’, something that had already earned Mourinho a fine.
Pellegrini said, “I Hope that in the Premier League – the most important league in the world – they don’t have a campaign against anyone.”
He added, “Hope that all is fair, that the referee makes mistakes for all the teams exactly the same, that the FA make the fixtures in a fair way and the punishment [in a fair way]. I think it is the best league in the world and I don’t think it has any strange things because you are not competing [fairly].’’
The title-deciding game will a mouth-watering encounter and the feud between both managers only adds to it.
