Juventus Player Ratings

Wojciech Szczesny 6/10

The Juventus goalkeeper was largely untroubled by Napoli, who were more than willing to sit back and defend their lead. He was, however, unfortunate not to keep a clean sheet, as the hosts scored from the penalty spot.

Giorgio Chiellini 6.5/10

It was a forgettable outing for the veteran defender, as Giorgio Chiellini gifted Napoli the lead after a foul on Amir Rrahmani. The referee initially failed to spot the foul, but VAR revealed that the 36-year-old had hit the face of the Kosovo international.

However, Chiellini played his part to keep his team in the game by keeping the deficit to just one.

Matthijs de Ligt 5/10

Matthijs de Ligt had a fairly cold evening by his standards, but he kept his side in the game and did the needful when called upon.

He stood his ground against Napoli striker Osimhen, limiting the Nigerian's attacking threat. De Ligt was diligent in his defensive duties, winning all three of his aerial duels and two ground duels.

Danilo 6.5/10

Danilo was the most lively of the Juventus full-backs, as he drove forward to send the ball into the Napoli box.

The Brazilian also contributed at the defensive end of the pitch, tracking back and winning three tackles and five duels.

Juan Cuadrado 5/10

It was a rather quiet evening from the Colombian international. Juan Cuadrado failed to make his mark on the game, as he lacked an attacking threat.

He struggled to handle Napoli forward Lozano down the right flank and was booked for a late challenge on the Mexican. Cuadrado was Juventus’ first substitution of the night after he was hooked off at the break.

Federico Chiesa 7/10

In a typically energetic display, the Juventus forward Federico Chiesa showed serious zeal and intent to get his side level on the night.

The midfielder came close to finding the equaliser in the 85th minute, but he drilled his shot inches wide of the left-hand post.

Adrien Rabiot 7/10

After struggling at the start of the campaign for Juventus, Adrien Rabiot found his feet and delivered another industrious midfield performance.

The Frenchman was simply everywhere and threw himself into tackles, winning four of them along with making five ground duels and one interception.

Rabiot also helped his defence with his towering physique. as he won all his aerial battles attempted.

Rodrigo Bentancur 6.5/10

The quietest of all Juventus midfielders, Rodrigo Bentancur offered extra defensive cover in midfield. That allowed the likes of Chiesa and Bernardeschi to roam forward in search of an equaliser.

Federico Bernardeschi 6.5/10

The Juventus midfielder was very tidy in possession all game. Federico Bernardeschi even got a chance to get on the scoresheet in the first half, but flashed his shot wide.

Nevertheless, he kept play ticking in midfield and linked up well with his frontmen before he was replaced by Weston McKennie on the hour mark.

Cristiano Ronaldo 6/10

Cristiano Ronaldo squandered several scoring opportunities, and came up short against the inspired Napoli custodian Alex Meret.

He failed to find the target with a volley from point-blank range in the second half before his thumping header was kept out by the Italian.

Alvaro Morata 6.5/10

Alvaro Morata made a return to the Juventus fold after he was left out for the mid-week draw against Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia.

However, the Spaniard should have found the target in the second half, but failed to get the better of Meret from six yards out.

Player Ratings of Juventus Substitutes

Alex Sandro 7/10

The Juventus full-back was very useful in both attack and defence in the second half. Alex Sandro was quick to drive forward to put in useful crosses too.

He almost grabbed an assist when he beat his marker before laying the ball to Ronaldo; however, the Portuguese failed to find the target.

Weston McKennie 6/10

It was a rather shaky performance from the Juventus substitute. While Weston McKennie kept possession tidy, he failed to provide the creativity the Bianconeri needed to break down Napoli’s defence.

Dejan Kulusevski 6.5/10

The Sweden international was brought on in the 72nd minute to provide more attacking options, as Juventus threw men forward in search of an equaliser.

Dejan Kulusevski had a solid 18-minute cameo as he injected energy into the fading Juventus attack. He completed two of three dribble attempts and posed a serious threat down the right for Napoli.
