One of Mauricio Pochettino's strikers is facing suspension at his loan club.

Chelsea loanee and Union Berlin attacker David Datro Fofana has been handed a suspension after a dispute with his current manager.

According to Sky Germany journalist Lisa de Ruiter, Fofana is set to be suspended for a week after refusing to shake Union Berlin manager Urs Fischer's hand earlier this week. He rejected the Swiss' approach after being substituted off in his team's 1-0 recent loss to Napoli.

In the aftermath of the game, the Ivorian offered an apology to Fischer for his bad attitude. But, he is set to miss the Bundesliga side's upcoming ties against Werder Bremen and VfB Stuttgart as punishment.

Fofana, 20, started his seventh contest in Union Berlin's jersey against Napoli. He completed nine passes with 64% accuracy, registered one shot on target and won seven duels during his 70-minute play.

A right-footed striker blessed with pace, flair and finishing, the Chelsea player has provided one assist in 11 matches for Union this campaign.

Chelsea remain in running to rope in Napoli striker and Liverpool target Victor Osimhen

In his Caught Offside column, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated that Chelsea are monitoring Liverpool-linked star Victor Osimhen's situation at Napoli. He wrote:

"I can say that Chelsea are still keeping an eye on Osimhen, but despite some reports in Italy stating that he's agreed a contract with Liverpool, my understanding is that he hasn't agreed anything with any club. There is not even an agreement over a new contract with Napoli, despite receiving a huge offer from his club."

Claiming that the Nigerian will weigh his options, Romano concluded:

"Osimhen will take his time, but for now I can say the links with Liverpool are not true. Of course, Liverpool and many other clubs are keeping an eye on top strikers around Europe, but nothing is agreed, Osimhen will take his time. We'll have to wait and see how it will evolve, even if it is sure to be one to watch in 2024."

Osimhen, 24, has been atop a number of top European clubs' transfer radars since the beginning of the year. He shot to stardom after helping Napoli end their 33-year-long Serie A title drought in the 2022-23 term.

A former LOSC Lille and VfL Wolfsburg ace, Osimhen has registered 37 goals and six assists in his last 49 matches across competitions for Gli Azzurri. He reportedly has an asking price of over £150 million.

Should the right-footed number nine join Chelsea in the future, he would pop up as a key starter for them. He would force Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja to play in a rotational role in a 4-2-3-1 system.
