Chelsea forward Kai Havertz has picked teammates Mateo Kovacic, Joao Felix, and Hakim Ziyech as the three most skillful players at the West London outfit.

When asked who was the most skillful player, the German international said on The 5th Stand app (as quoted by The Chelsea Chronicle):

“The best technically Mateo Kovacic, but I suppose he doesn’t use many skills in-game. That is Joao Felix, I’d say. Hakim Ziyech is the one who always tries to nutmeg.”

Kovacic has registered 25 Premier League appearances for the Blues this season, scoring one goal and providing two assists. The Croatian midfielder is an excellent technician who is known for his ball carrying.

Felix moved to Stamford Bridge on loan from Atletico Madrid in January. The Portuguese midfielder has managed to find a fair amount of game time, making 13 league appearances and scoring thrice for the Blues this term.

While Kovacic and Felix are enjoying minutes on the pitch, Ziyech has struggled to cement his place in the team this season. The Moroccan forward has made only six starts in the English top tier this term.

Chelsea are currently 11th in the Premier League table amid dismal form. The Blues have gone through a massive transition this season, in ownership, management, and the composition of the squad.

The West London outfit are currently managed by iconic midfielder and former manager Frank Lampard, who was hired as interim boss until the end of the season.

In the meantime, the Blues continue their search for a permanent manager, with former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager Mauricio Pochettino said to be very close to joining the club (as per Fabrizio Romano).

"Everything that could go wrong went wrong" - Kai Havertz on Chelsea's 2022/23 campaign and Thomas Tuchel sacking

Chelsea have seen three different managers at the helm this season, with Thomas Tuchel being sacked early in September 2022 and his replacement Graham Potter being fired seven months later.

The Blues certainly have had a woeful season, struggling to maintain a position in the top half of the table.

Havertz recently opened up about his club's issues this season. The German forward told Sky Germany (as quoted by 90min):

"Everything that could go wrong went wrong for us this year. The season actually started relatively quietly even though we had a change of ownership, which was a big change for the whole club."

Havertz added on Tuchel's sacking:

"And then Thomas Tuchel was fired, which of course always makes a big difference in a team like this when you've been successful with a coach and then he gets fired out of nowhere. We got a lot of new players over the winter who first have to settle in with us in order to be able to show their quality."

Chelsea will next face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on 13 May. They will face three of the current top-four, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Newcastle United in their last three fixtures of the season.
