"It will still be really keenly contested" - Chris Sutton makes prediction for Tottenham vs Arsenal

Chris Sutton has provided his prediction for Tottenham vs Arsenal's North London derby in the Premier League on Sunday, April 28.

The Gunners will make a very short trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where a fierce match is widely expected from the two London clubs. Mikel Arteta's men will be seen by many as favorites as they currently sit at the very top of the Premier League table. Their opponents, meanwhile, are chasing a top-four slot.

The Gunners are also coming off a 5-0 win over west London giants Chelsea at home while Spurs haven't played a competitive match in two weeks. Before they did get their extended break, Ange Postecoglou's men were dealt a 4-0 defeat at Newcastle United.

Chris Sutton has predicted another loss for Spurs as he wrote his expectations of a 2-1 win for the Gunners in his column for BBC:

"Arsenal bounced back superbly from their defeat by Aston Villa with wins over Wolves and Chelsea and I am expecting more of the same here. They should win this because of the way they are playing and also because I just don't think Tottenham have been at their best in their past few games, even the ones they have won."

He continued:

"It will still be really keenly contested, but the Gunners have a great balance in attack and defence and that might give them the edge. If Arsenal do come out on top, it would be an enormous win for them in the title race and keep the heat on Manchester City."

Sutton finished, adding winning expectations for the rest of the Gunners' season:

"I have no doubt Mikel Arteta's side will win their final three games too - Bournemouth (home), Manchester United (away) and Everton (home) - but it will not be enough if City keep winning too."

Prediction: 1-2

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou discusses Arsenal derby clash

Tottenham Hotspur have ambitions of returning to the UEFA Champions League, and a win against Arsenal will put them on the path to achieving their goal. It will be double the sweetness for Spurs if they also hand the Gunners a defeat to slam their Premier League title hopes into the mud.

Speaking to the press ahead of the game, Postecoglou said (via BBC):

"We understand the importance of being at home in these kind of games to not let our biggest rival win in the biggest derby for us. We understand the consequences of that. I am not going to dictate how our fans feel and what they feel is important."

The Spurs manager will also be looking for a rejuvenation from his squad after their shock 4-0 loss to Newcastle in their last competitive outing. They sit fifth in the table, six points behind Aston Villa with two games in hand.
