CBS Sports pundits Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards were left in stitches after presenter Kate Abdo made a blunder while introducing herself in the Champions League post-match coverage on Wednesday night.
Kate Abdo, who is known for anchoring CBS Sports Champions League coverage, recently walked down the aisle with her partner Malik Scott and subsequently adopted his last name. However, she accidentally introduced herself with her maiden name during the coverage, which cracked up Arsenal man Thierry Henry and his fellow pundits.
Presenting CBS Sports’ post-match coverage for Wednesday UCL fixtures, she said:
"Good evening and a very warm welcome to our Champions League post-match show, it is so good to have you with us."
Then came the blunder. As she wanted to introduce herself and the panel, she said:
"Kate Abd-"
She stopped the introduction immediately after she realized her error, but Thierry Henry and Co. found it hilarious as they burst into laughter. In response, the CBS Sports presenter covered her face and could only grin as she realized her mistake. She then apologized to her husband:
''Sorry! Sorry Malik.’’
After Kate’s gaffe of introducing herself as ‘’Kate Abdo’’, ex-Manchester City player Micah Richards made a joke out of the situation, quizzing her:
“What happened there, did you have something in your throat?”
Thierry Henry, however, pretended to be uninterested in joining the teasing as he covered his face with the script in his hands. Laughing, she continued the introduction.
''Kate Scott, Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards," she smiled. Good to see you everybody!"
She then presented the topic for discussion, but Henry still jokingly appeared unaware of her mistake until Jamie Carragher nudged him and called his name. He then responded:
''Leave me alone, I skipped this today.’’

Thierry Henry points out Erling Haaland’s weakness after Manchester City's Champions League draw with Inter Milan
Thierry Henry pointed out Erling Haaland’s Achilles heel after Manchester City’s goalless draw with Inter Milan in the Champions League clash on Wednesday (September 18). Pep Guardiola’s men couldn’t replicate their 2023 UCL final result against Inter as the latter’s defense proved a hard nut to crack.
Erling Haaland had the opportunity to score his 100th goal for the Cityzens but couldn’t. While Haaland is considered one of the best strikers of his generation, Henry believes he lacks an ability that makes other players in his position better than him.
Speaking to CBS Sports, he said (via Manchester Evening News):
"I don’t think he can, no. Go in the middle and play like [Harry] Kane can do. Right now, no. I think he can improve. Right now, he can't do that."
Fellow pundit Micah Richards replied:
"No but he doesn’t need to do that."
Herny retorted:
''He will, he doesn’t need [to], City are always on the ball with wingers, you don’t often need to do that. I was just making a point that right now, I don’t think he can do that. He will eventually one day do that but right now, he cannot."
