Everton defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 at home and made a crucial step towards avoiding relegation to the Championship. The hosts now have a four-point lead over Forest (30-26), while they are five points above the relegation zone.

Still, what stole the spotlight was Nottingham Forest's social media post after the game. They called out the referee and his assistants for poor officiating decisions, while they implied that the VAR was a Luton fan. Luton is just a point behind Nottingham.

"Three extremely poor decisions - three penalties not given - which we simply cannot accept. We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn’t change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options," the post on X reads.

Fans took to social media and called out the club for its post. Here are some of the reactions.

"Might be the most embarrassing tweet from an official club account of all time," wrote one.
"Bro forgot to change to his main fan account," tweeted another account.
"Is this real?" wondered one.
"As if the official club account posted this," was another reaction.
"Admin got angry," another account commented.

Liverpool legend reacts to Nottingham Forest's social media post

Nottingham Forest's post on social media created a lot of negative reactions not only from football fans, but from pundits as well. Liverpool legend and SKY Sports analyst Jamie Carragher called out the club for their social media post, terming it 'embarrassing'.

Carragher said, via The Mirror:

"Stuart Attwell and Anthony Taylor have had a horrific day today, awful, and they should be rightly criticised for that. That could have real implications for Nottingham Forest, I get the frustrations. But that, what I've just read there on social media, that's like a fan in a pub. That is embarrassing for Nottingham Forest.
"I get the frustrations, but that rubbish about the VAR is a Luton fan? You can't get involved in that. You've got to show a little bit of class if you are a football club. I get it, the frustration, the officials have had an awful day, terrible. But you can't get involved in that. It's nonsense!"

The English Premier League is yet to react to Forest's allegations and it remains to be seen if they will impose any sanctions to the club, which further affect their battle to avoid relegation.
