Pundit Darren Bent has opined that Manchester City fringe attacking midfielder Jack Grealish could replace Martin Odegaard at Arsenal should the Gunners sign him. Grealish, who joined City from Aston Villa in 2021, has suffered a massive decline in form of late and has been linked with an exit from the Etihad Stadium.
After finishing the 2024-25 campaign trophyless, Manchester City look set for a busy summer transfer window. Recent reports have claimed that they are on the verge of signing midfielders Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki from AC Milan and Lyon, respectively.
The impending arrival of both players could mean Grealish could eventually lose his place in Pep Guardiola’s squad. While Arsenal finished a place above City on the Premier League table, they also ended the season without any trophies. Captain Martin Odegaard wasn’t at his best, registering 18 goal contributions in 45 appearances across competitions.
In a recent session on talkSPORT, host Andy Goldstein asked Darren Bent if he would have Jack Grealish at Arsenal, to which he responded:
“Yes, I would. 100 per cent.”
When asked where he would play him, Bent replied:
“10. [Martin] Odegaard’s obviously first choice, but he was poor. If you’ve got someone like Jack there, away you go, ready to play.”
Grealish scored three goals and provided five assists for City in 32 appearances across competitions last season. Amid his uncertain future, The Independent recently reported that the Englishman is open to offers from Manchester United.
Manchester City interested in 15-year-old Arsenal star – Reports
Manchester City reportedly have their eyes set on Arsenal’s academy player Max Dowan and have made an initial approach to signal their interest in the player. Dowan plays for the U18 side of the Gunners, making his debut for the club in September 2023 at the age of 13.
He is renowned for his versatility in midfield and technical ability. The attacking midfielder has already ripped it up at international level with England’s U-17s. He also outperformed at club level, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists in 15 appearances for the U-18s last season.
His impressive output has seen him attract the interest of European clubs, which include Manchester City. According to Football Transfers, City have expressed interest in Max Dowan as they see him as a long-term project. However, Arsenal are not considering parting ways with the Hale End star, as they are poised to mould him into a first-team player at the Emirates.
Apart from the Cityzens, Dowan is said to be attracting interest from LaLiga champions, Barcelona.
