In Chelsea’s resounding 4-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge last Sunday, N’Golo Kante, in particular, had a stellar game for the Blues.

Although all the Chelsea players put in a hard shift, Kante stood out in the way he kept the attacking threat of Paul Pogba at bay, and also danced his way past the United defence to score his side’s fourth goal.

Kante bullied Pogba

Writing on Chelsea’s official website, former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin spoke about Kante’s performance and said, “Talking of super humanity, N’Golo Kante basically bullied the most expensive player in the world from start to finish, before scoring a classic himself just to round off a perfect afternoon’s work.”

Chelsea’s turn in fortune commenced after a disappointing defeat to Arsenal in September, when manager Antonio Conte switched to a 3-4-3 formation with Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso playing as wing backs. It has worked wonders as Chelsea have now won 3 matches in a row, and find themselves occupying 4th spot in the Premier League table.

Work rate, organisation was excellent, says Nevin

In his column, Nevin added, “It is not often that you can say everyone on the team got at least an 8.5 out of 10 but that was certainly the case against Manchester United at the weekend. From Courtois to Costa the work rate was impeccable, the organisation faultless, and the skill levels of the very highest standard. It has been quite a renaissance in the last three games since the move to a 3-4-3 formation against Hull City and long may it continue.”

The French defensive midfielder ruined Pogba's and Mourinho's big night, on the latter's return to his old stomping ground, where he once enjoyed demi-god status.

Manchester United are enduring a terrible period under Jose Mourinho. Paul Pogba’s struggles have become emblematic of the issues that Manchester United are facing, as Mourinho cannot yet decide on what is the best position to play the world’s most expensive player in.

The Red Devils are currently 7th in the table, 5 points off fourth spot and 6 points from the leaders, Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have a challenging set of fixtures ahead of them, as they play Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City in their next five matches. With the Blues’ current dominant form, they certainly stand in good stead to further consolidate their position among the top 4 in the table.
