Chelsea's Spanish star could leave Stamford Bridge

Swansea City's Nathan Dyer (L) challenges Valencia's Oriol Romeu during their Europa League soccer match at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea,

Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu, currently on-loan at Valencia, has expressed his desire to stay at the club beyond his current loan deal.

Romeu, 22, moved to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona in 2011 for just over £4 million but found it hard to break through the ranks of their first-team.

He suffered a long-term injury before being loaned back to La Liga with Valencia where he’s now enjoying his football again.

“My position is as I’ve always said, I want to be here,” Romeu explained. “I want to give everything to Valencia, have a great year and to finish the season well.

“When the season is over, we’ll sit down and talk. I’ve always said that I want to be comfortable where I am and happy.

“I will fight to stay for another year, or however many more.”

Romeu has played 11 times for Valencia this season, including an appearance in the Europa League away to Premier League side Swansea City.

Romeu was highly-rated when he first joined the London club but ended up playing just 33 games in two years before being loaned out to Valencia.

Playing eight times in La Liga this season, only one midfielder – Michel (89%) – has a higher pass accuracy than Romeu (88%).
