French champions Paris Saint-Germain are to offer Chelsea target Ezequiel Lavezzi a big, new deal to stop the London club’s interest, according to the Daily Express.

Lavezzi, 29, has been the subject of intense transfer speculation over the last couple of months, coming mainly from Stamford Bridge, after Chelsea knocked PSG out of the Champions League.

It had been reported that Chelsea opened up ‘exploratory talks’ to determine whether bringing the forward to west London was a realistic proposal.

However, according to the man in-the-know, Gianluca Di Marzio, PSG are set to offer a new deal to tie Lavezzi to the Parc des Princes and to ward off interest from across the channel.

A new deal would be a blow to Jose Mourinho who has made no secret of his desire to sign attacking players in the summer transfer window.

It has been a lacklustre season for his trio of strikers, Samuel Eto’o, Demba Ba and Fernando Torres, who managed to net just 19 Premier League goals between them.

Lavezzi started 23 league games for PSG last season and a departure could be on the cards after some criticism for his displays.
