Premier League Team of the Year

Liverpool and Chelsea dominated the PFA’s Premier League Team of they Year as three players from each club made the cut.

Both Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge lead the line (having scored 50 goals between them this season) while captain Steven Gerrard (13 goals this season) also features in the XI.

Chelsea had goalkeeper Petr Cech (16 clean sheets), defender Gary Cahill and midfielder Eden Hazard in the XI.

Southampton had two of their stars Adam Lallana and Luke Shaw while Manchester City too had two representatives in Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure. The last spot was taken by Everton full back Seamus Coleman.

This is also the first time since 1990 that a Manchester United player has not made it to the PFA Team of the Year.

Player of the Year

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez picked up the PFA Player of the Year award after having netted 30 goals so far in this campaign in spite of missing the first few games of the season due to the 10-game ban from last season. He finished ahead of Eden Hazard and and Yaya Toure in the votes.

Suarez could also break the record for most goals in a 38-game season (31), jointly held by Cristiano Ronaldo and Alan Shearer. Apart from his goal tally, he also leads the League in assists (12).

PFA Young Player of the Year

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard was named PFA Young Player of the Year after having scored 14 goals and tallying 7 assists this season. He won the award ahead of Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge and Southampton left back Luke Shaw.

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey, Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling and Everton’s Ross Barkley were also nominated for this award.
