Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri will look to strengthen his squad further with key signings.

We are already past mid-season and the January transfer window is open for the clubs to make a few signings. Imminent transfers will not only provide a boost to the current team strength of the clubs but will be an upgrade on the depth of a team.

Chelsea are already desperately working on the new signings. They have sealed the deal of a talented forward in Christian Pulisic earlier this week which shows their urgency. It is expected to be a busy transfer window for the club as coach Maurizio Sarri will want his side to challenge for the title as soon as possible.

Chelsea are currently fourth in the English Premier League with 44 points, 10 points behind leaders Liverpool.

After the departure of Antonio Conte, it is evident that Chelsea looks like a different team under the tutelage of Maurizio Sarri with their fluid movements and powerful performances.

Despite a strong start to the season, Chelsea still need to improve in some key areas to challenge the top two consistently and everyone associated with the club recognizes that. Without further ado, let us take a look at three players who can fit easily into Sarri's Chelsea and have an imminent impact on the team.

#1 Edinson Cavani

The major cause of concern at the Stamford Bridge is the poor performances of the sharpshooters in the squad. The continuous failures of Olivier Giroud and Alvaro Morata in front of goal has been holding Chelsea back in this current 2018/19 season and there is no doubt that they desperately need reinforcements.

On the other hand, Uruguayan veteran talisman Edinson Cavani has been in a great form since the start of the season. He scored three goals in his four appearances at the World Cup and impressed as the target man of the Paris Saint-Germain with 10 goals in Ligue 1.

The big talisman can be a perfect fit for Maurizio Sarri's style of play. With Eden Hazard beside him, he can be the proper talisman. Cavani has continuously proved his impact on the big stages.

Moreover, Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in pressure from UEFA to sell some players due to breach in Financial Fair Play(FFP) rules. This transfer can be a perfect situation for both parties if the deal goes through.

#2 Nicolo Barella

Frosinone Calcio v Cagliari - Serie A

The 21-year-old Italian who plays for Cagliari has already impressed many scouts with his performances and reportedly, top European clubs are interested in securing his services.

The young talented midfielder has earned comparisons with midfield greats like Steven Gerrard and Andrea Pirlo Being versatile, the traditional central midfielder can play as in a more attacking position and fill in the shoes of an attacking midfielder.

Meanwhile, it seems that Maurizio Sarri has not finalized the final position in a three-man midfield. While Jorginho and Kante have proven to be almost guaranteed starters, Sarri has shuffled between Kovacic and Ross Barkley for the major part in the first half of the season.

With the departure of Cesc Fabregas, Nicolo Barella will be a perfect long term solution for the final midfielder in Maurizio Sarri's 4-3-3. Although it remains to be seen whether Barella can prove himself in club football's biggest stages, he will surely have an impact if he fulfills his potential.

#3 Gonzalo Higuain

AC Milan v SPAL - Serie A
AC Milan v SPAL - Serie A

Gonzalo Higuain has been one of the top strikers in club football for some time now. His exploits with Napoli and in the Seria A have proven the Argentine's worth despite repeated failures with National team.

Although Higuain is struggling to find the net with Milan in the current season, he can still be a plus for Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea. He is bound to get more services from his teammates than he gets in the Seria A due to the defensive nature of the team and Seria A.

Meanwhile, both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud has consistently struggled to provide Chelsea with goals. The duo has scored only six goals in the Premier League season so far and their failures is one of the major reasons why Sarri deployed winger Eden Hazard as a false nine in recent matches.

Gonzalo Higuain seems to be a perfect transfer in the January window. Experienced and versatile, he can help Chelsea with his presence as Chelsea looks to challenge for trophies in the current season.
