Ramsey would provide the goal-scoring edge to Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer and quickly went about moulding his team. Jorginho followed him from Italy and the Italian has been integral to everything good Chelsea has done this term.

However, over the course of recent weeks, Chelsea’s goal-scoring troubles have been magnified. A lack of goals from midfield coupled with the absence of a reliable center-forward are primarily to blame.

Though a certain Argentine could answer the latter question, the former conundrum seems much harder to decipher. Thus, it is startling that Ramsey hasn’t been thought of as an answer to those woes.

The Welsh midfielder has made a living by arriving late in the box and getting on the end of team moves. Moreover, he is really dynamic with his play and would complement the silky style of Jorginho perfectly.

In the current season, the goal tally of Chelsea’s midfielders stands at a paltry 10, which is not nearly enough considering the emphasis Sarri places on them.

If Ramsey were to move to the other side of London, he could play a role akin to Hamsik at Napoli. Like the Slovakian, the Welshman too can produce goals in clutch situations and could just be the tonic to Chelsea’s ailments.

Chelsea seem to have a majority of their bases covered yet the lack of appropriate personnel in other areas has brought them down.

A consistent centre forward and a box to box midfielder could be the final pieces in the jigsaw. And Ramsey would fit like a glove in the latter department.

For all we know, he could be the Lampard replacement Chelsea have been craving.
