Arsenal came from behind to defeat West Ham United 3-1 at the Olympic Stadium in London on Monday night.

The hosts took the lead through centre-back Angelo Ogbonna, who put West Ham ahead in the 38th minute and it looked as if the Gunners were to drop points again.

The Hammers were good value for their first-half lead as Arsenal had been nothing short of shambolic but a second-half blitz saw the visitors score three goals in the space of nine minutes to give them all three points.

The victory moved Arsenal to 9th place on the league table and here are three talking points from the Premier League fixture.

#3 Freddie Ljungberg gets Arsenal back to winning ways

Arsenal hit dire straits under Unai Emery, with the nadir coming when they went seven matches without victory which ultimately led to the Spaniard getting the sack.

Assistant manager Freddie Ljungberg was appointed in his stead as an interim manager and it was expected that he would inspire the club back on the right track.

It, however, did not pan out that way as the former Swedish international got off to a poor start, drawing his first game in charge with Norwich before falling to a 2-1 home defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion.

The injury sustained by regular right-back Hector Bellerin in the warm-up added to the foreboding and when West Ham went 1-0 up, it seemed like more of the same for Arsenal.

However, Ljungberg's half-time team-talk must have inspired the players and when they came out for the second half, they were a totally different team and a nine-minute blitz saw them leave East London with all three points.

This was the first victory Arsenal had tasted in 10 matches in all competitions and after suffering for so long, fans of the club would hope that it can be the start of something new.

#2 Full-back trouble for Arsenal

Tierney pulled up with a shoulder injury

Unai Emery had bad luck when it came to injuries this season and regardless of fan opinion, it is a lifeline that the former Sevilla manager can hang on to.

This was particularly true in defense and injury troubles forced him into playing players out of position which had consequent disastrous effects.

Things have, however, improved in recent weeks and heading into the clash with West Ham, Ljungberg had the services of his first choice full-backs, with both Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney in line to star against The Hammers.

The first blow was struck when right-back Bellerin pulled up with an injury in the warm-up and matter were made worse when Kieran Tierney was substitued less than half an hour into the clash with what appeared to be a shoulder problem.

Although no official statement has been released on the severity of the injuries, fans of the club would be hoping they are not too serious, as the two full-backs will have a key role to play if Arsenal are to achieve their ambitions this season.

#1 Nicolas Pepe delivers

Arsenal caused stirs when they broke the bank to sign Ivory Coast international Nicolas Pepe for a club-record fee of £72 million over the summer.

The 24-year-old had starred for Lille last season, scoring 24 goals and assisting 11 times in Ligue 1 to help OSC Lille to a second-place finish in the league and expectedly, his form did not go unnoticed and Europe's biggest clubs lined up for his signature.

As it happened, the Gunners ultimately won the race for his signature, but he failed to have the lightning start at the Emirates that many expected.

He had a decent debut, starring in the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool but from then on, it went downhill for Pepe and he consequently lost his starting place in the team.

Against West Ham, he was, however, deployed from the off, playing as an inverted winger in a midfield three and after a lethargic first half, Pepe sprung to life at the restart and was the driving force behind Arsenal's second half fightback.

Brazilian youngster Gabriel Martinelli drew the visitors level in the 60th minute after converting a Sead Kolasinac cross on his full Premier League debut and from then on, the Pepe show started.

Arsenal then took the lead and they had their record-signing to thank, as he scored what can only be described as a wonder goal - cutting in from the right and bending an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Just three minutes later, he found fellow Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with an exquisite cross, which the Gabonese international finished with an acrobatic strike.

Pepe played a key role in getting Arsenal their first victory in over two months and his latest performance is sure to boost his confidence.
