Another international break is upon us which means no football to look forward to this weekend. With 12 games gone - nearly a third of the season - no better way to spend the weekend than by debating about the Premier League's Team of the Season so far.

So let's sit back, relax and reflect on the players who have done well so far this season. I have selected this team in a traditional 4-4-2 formation but with both wide players playing as wingers.

# Goalkeeper & Defenders

Goalkeeper

Ederson Moares - He has kept 7 clean sheets so far this season and in the other 5 games he has only conceded 1 goal in each match. That's a fantastic start to the season from a defensive point of view.

But his biggest plus point is that he adds to Manchester City's attacking style of football with his outstanding ball distribution. With Ederson in the team, City are able to start their attacks from their own goal line.

Center Back - Aymeric Laporte - Manchester City are unbeaten so far in the league and Laporte is a crucial reason behind the same. City are essentially an all-out attacking team which can leave them vulnerable at the back. But Laporte has kept the defense watertight.

His solid performances have been a constant in an ever-changing Manchester City lineup. He is also able to pass the ball which is evident from his average of 89 passes per game.

Center Back - Joe Gomez - This might come as a surprise to some. But in my opinion, Gomez is the find of this Premier League season so far. At just 21 years of age, he is strong, athletic, calm and composed.

Going forward Liverpool were always good, but he has stepped up at the back and shored a previously leaky defense. 7 clean sheets - the joint highest in the league - have kept Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool in the hunt for a first league trophy at Anfield after nearly 30 years.

Right Back - Kieran Trippier - Going forward he is one of the world's best right backs currently. After Kyle Walker moved to Manchester City, Trippier has made the vacant right back / wing back spot his own. He is solid defensively and provides an attacking threat going forward with his pace and ability to swing crosses in.

His defensive stats of 38 clearances and 72 recoveries are far impressive than what may seem from only 3 clean sheets this season. Add to it 1 goal, 3 assists, and 81 crosses and you have a complete package at right back.

Left Back - Marcos Alonso - Ever since his move to Chelsea in the summer of 2016, there have always been questions raised over Alonso's defensive abilities. But over the past two and a half seasons, the Spaniard has constantly been proving his critics wrong.

He may not be the best defender in the league, but he adds so much to the team with his attacking play. With 6 clean sheets, 1 goal and 3 assists he easily takes up the left back spot in the team.

Notable Mentions - Alisson Becker, Hugo Lloris, Andrew Robertson, Kyle Walker

Midfielders

Central Midfielder - Jorginho - This is another selection which may surprise a few. But Jorginho makes the cut because he has been instrumental in Chelsea seamlessly shifting to Maurizio Sarri's style of football. He has adapted to life in the Premier League like a duck to water.

His passing numbers are simply phenomenal. He has already made 1183 passes this season at an average of nearly 99 a game. Along the way, he also broke the record for the highest number of passes attempted in a single match.

Central Midfielder - David Silva - The Spaniard has been the creative force behind Manchester City's attacking flair. He controls the strings from midfield and has the mind to make some incredibly incisive plays. There is no denying his ability to pass the ball. City have been in rampant form this season and Silva has played his part with 4 goals and 2 assists.

Right Winger - Raheem Sterling - Since moving from Liverpool, Sterling has been setting the bar higher each season. He has continued his fine attacking form this season and taken it to another level all together on the stats meter. In the 10 games he has played so far he has scored 6 goals and made 5 assists. That's being directly involved in more than 1 goal each game. No wonder City average 3 goals a game this season.

Left Winger - Eden Hazard - There is a reason why Real Madrid are chasing him as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo. Currently he is one of the best footballers in the world without a doubt. He has carried his sensational form from the World Cup into the new season and it is all because of him that Chelsea are competing for the league title. 7 goals and 4 assists in 11 games are worthy numbers. He has been on fire all along despite opposition defenders not taking too kindly to him.

Notable Mentions - Gylfi Sigurdsson, Mohamed Salah, Richarlison, Sadio Mane

Forwards

Aguero scores goals for a living
Aguero scores goals for a living

Center Forward - Sergio Aguero - More than 150 goals in 218 appearances in the league is no small number. And the Argentine has been scoring them without even breaking a sweat. He hasn't disappointed fans this season either. Currently, he leads the scoring charts with 8 goals and you can add 4 assists to that as well. Manchester City have been ruthless in tearing apart oppositions and Kun Aguero leads from the front.

Center Forward - Callum Wilson - Bournemouth are sixth in the table currently - an incredible achievement for a team that was widely touted to be fighting for Premier League survival. They have no big names in their ranks but have a dedicated bunch of players who have consistently punched much above their weights this season.

With 6 goals already, he has been instrumental in setting up victories for the Cherries. And he gets into the team ahead of others based on the overall impact he has on his team.

Notable Mentions - Anthony Martial, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Harry Kane
