#5 Gattuso gives Higuain update

Chelsea have been linked with a move for Gonzalo Higuain in the January market and it seems as though it won’t be so easy to bring the Argentine to the Stamford Bridge as Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso has claimed that the former Real Madrid forward is happy.

Higuain was at his best under the tutelage of Maurizio Sarri and it seems as though he wants to resume the partnership in London. However, Gattuso believes that in order to fix the issue with the Argentine, they will have to understand what he wants.

“Despite hearing a lot of rumours on Higuain, he is training well, he is happy with his team-mates [and] he is happy with everyone,” Gattuso said.

“He is available at this moment but then we will have to see whether he will play the match. We need to understand what he desires to do, how to solve this matter.”

Gattuso then affirmed that Higuain looks genuinely happy with his peers and that he is always in a jolly mood, joking around with his team-mates. Finally, Gattuso concluded by claiming that the former Napoli forward hasn’t told him anything about wanting to leave the San Siro in the ongoing winter market.

“He could be a great actor, but I don’t think so. I see him immersed in the project [as] he gets on well with the team. He is always joking. Sometimes he is like a radio, he never stops!

“One last thing – he hasn’t yet informed me that he wants to leave, I am still waiting. You know what I mean.”

Not keen on an extension

Tottenham could claim that they aren’t going through the best of times right now as they have not only lost their home game to Manchester United but will now have to be without Harry Kane at least until March.

The English forward is suffering from an ankle injury which further dents Spurs’ attack after Heung-son Min departed for the Asian Cup 2019 to represent South Korea.

And now, they also have to worry about the extension of Christian Eriksen. According to AS, the Dane is far from agreeing on a new deal and is open to moving to Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are interested in signing Yannick Carrasco from Dalian Yifang but can only afford to sign him if they successfully get German superstar Mesut Ozil off their wage bill.

TMW further add Ozil was offered to Inter and Juventus but they rejected the chance due to his wages.

#3 Isco to be used as a swap card

Isco has been isolated

According to Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda, Real Madrid are planning to use Isco as a means to bring either Eden Hazard or Kevin De Bruyne. The Spaniard has lost his place in the first-team with the arrival of Santiago Solari and it seems as though he could be out of Madrid.

Inda believes that while the general consensus is that he won’t be sold, his relationship with the coach and the rest of the dressing room is not at its best – which could lead to his departure.

"Madrid are going to try and put Isco in the operation for Hazard or in a possible operation for De Bruyne. In the Bernabéu, they say that he is not for sale, but I believe that it is not the case due to the disaffection with the dome, the coach and the costumes.

“The core of the dressing room is not with Isco because they consider that he is going free and is out of shape."

Bayern want him no matter what

London clubs seem to be busy in full swing in this transfer window as West Ham have just had to reject a €10 million bid for their star Pedro Obiang, according to Sky Sports.

Fiorentina want the player but the London outfit will also consider selling him should they find a replacement.

Meanwhile, another London club have rejected an even bigger offer for their talented starlet. According to Evening Standard, Chelsea have refused to accept Bayern Munich’s latest offer of £35 million to sign Callum Hudson-Odoi.

The Bavarians’ sporting director said: “We want to sign the player. I have no doubts about his abilities. We are in constant contact with Chelsea.”

Finally, Barcelona are desperately looking for a backup for Luis Suarez in attack and have targeted Tottenham’s Fernando Llorente, Marca claim. However, with Kane out injured and Son playing in the Asian Cup, the North Londoners are unlikely to sell.

#1 Manchester madness

Coutinho won't come cheap

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Philippe Coutinho for a few weeks now but it seems as though it would be difficult to bring in the former Liverpool star to the team.

According to journalist David Amoyal, Barcelona would ask for more than €100 million to even consider selling the Brazilian in this window, just a year after bringing him from Liverpool amid much controversy and fanfare.

“A deal looks rather unlikely in January since the Blaugrana would want more than €100million to even consider the departure of the crown jewel of their transfer campaign last winter,” he said.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph claim that Marcos Rojo could be the first defender that is sold by Manchester United as they seek a complete revamp of the backline.
