#5 All about Higuain

Former Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain is on his way to join Chelsea, according to the latest reports. It sure is a great move for Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, who brought out the best in the Argentine.

This is also what former Wales forward Dean Saunders thinks as he has lauded the move made by the Londoners since the Argentina star is someone who is renowned for his abilities inside the penalty box.

“What a signing that is for Chelsea. That’s exactly what Chelsea need, that player of that ilk. He’s a class act. Great finisher, gets goals everywhere he’s been.

“What a great signing because obviously if you play the type of football Chelsea have played, if you haven’t got a number nine who’s getting on the end of things in the six-yard box then you’re wasting all the chances you’re creating.

“There’s no-one there in the right place at the right time.”

Meanwhile, the Argentine star himself refused to speak of the reported move, saying: “Were you all waiting for me? If you want to create mess [regarding the Chelsea transfer], I’m not the right person for you in this sense.”

His manager at Milan Gennaro Gattuso, meanwhile, sounded rather pessimistic when asked about his potential departure right after the Rossoneri lost the Supercoppa Italia to Juventus.

“If it was his last match with Milan I do not know, I cannot answer,’ said the Italian.

“I’ve got a burning inside me, we have 25 players, so let’s not talk about this now. We lick our wounds and will see what happens tomorrow.”

#4 Tottenham transfers

Malcom linked to Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur may not have bought anyone for two windows running but they sure as hell can sell players and that is exactly what they did with Mousa Dembele. The midfielder has officially joined Guangzhou R&F for a reported fee of £11 million.

Considering that the midfielder had only around six months left in his current deal, Spurs got a really good amount of money for him.

Meanwhile, the Lilywhites have been linked with a move for Malcom from Barcelona. The Londoners had been linked with him when he was in Bordeaux but the Brazilian chose to join Roma instead, which also didn’t happen as Barcelona came in the 11th hour and literally hijacked the deal.

Things haven’t been as rosy for Malcom since joining the Camp Nou as he has mostly spent his time on the bench and now, Sport say that Spurs could have him on loan with an option to buy in the summer.

#3 Pellegrini given advice

For West Ham star Stuart Pearce has advised Manuel Pellegrini to sell Marko Arnatuovic and use those funds to sign Callum Wilson from Bournemouth. The Austrian has been linked with a move out of London for a while now and it seems as though he could finally leave.

And Pearce is of the opinion that West Ham should try and bring £50 million for Arnautovic and use that to sign Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson since he is a very good goal-scorer.

“If I could balance the books and bring in Callum Wilson I would do it if I was Pellegrini,” Pearce said.

“£35million for Arnautovic, I don’t think it’s a good deal. But, if I could balance the books, maybe sell him for £50million and buy Wilson for £50million I would do it.

“He [Wilson] would be a very, very good replacement. He runs in behind, he’s an improving player… The only question mark is over his injury record.”

#2 Arsenal

The Gunners are struggling in the Premier League at this moment and it seems as though the only way they could finish top four is if they make some signings this month.

And according to journalist Nicolo Schira, Arsenal are actually planning to sign Nicolo Zaniolo in the summer.

“#Arsenal is interested in Nicolò #Zaniolo for the next season. #Emery and Sanllehi have talked with his agent Claudio Vigorelli, but #Roma wants to renew him until 2024. #transfers #AFC,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, according to an exclusive from Football Insider, Arsenal are ready to pounce on Leeds United youngster Jack Clarke as the Championship leaders are unwilling to talk about an extension before the end of the season.

Tottenham have also been linked with the player but it seems as though the Gunners will make a bid soon in order to make the best use of the situation around the player.

And today, the madness is encapsulated not by the Red Devils but by their sister Manchester City. The Blues are currently trailing Liverpool in the race for the Premier League and it seems as though they don’t want a repeat of it next season.

Don Balon claim that the Etihad outfit want to sign a leader for their team and have targeted the Brazilian playing in France. Pep Guardiola is said to be so keen that he is willing to let go of Gabriel Jesus, who they value at £120 million, and also give £100 million in cash to make the deal worth £220 million.

Meanwhile, Unai Emery has refused to give an update on the transfer of Denis Suarez from Barcelona, saying: “They are conversations between us privately. I don’t want to say to you this private conversation with the club.”
