#5 West Ham should have sold Arnautovic
Former West Ham defender Tony Gale has stated that the club should have sold Marko Arnautovic to China. The Hammers superstar was all set to leave the club in this window but is now going to stay in London.
This has perhaps not gone down well with Gale, who admitted that while Arnautovic is a superb player, the Hammers should have sold him because of how he behaved in the last few weeks.
“Undoubtedly West Ham are a better team when Arnautovic plays, if he wants to play,” Gale said.
“But I’d have got rid of him. It kind of brought apathy into the camp before a game like the one against Wimbledon.”
Gale wondered as to how the fans will now react when he is on the pitch for the next matches as his decision to leave the Londoners was mainly motivated by money.
“It’ll be interesting now to see what kind of reception he gets off the fans because they know that was a money-instigated move.”
Gale suggested that there was a bit of greed in the heart of the Austrian and questioned as to what the player really wants.
“People will be asking him now: ‘What sort of money do you want?’
“Would he rather win the FA Cup or Carabao Cup and maybe have an outside chance of getting into the Europa League, or does he want to go to China, where you can probably go when you’re about 32, and pick up a few more quid?
“I think there was a bit of greediness involved there.”
#4 Pochettino skeptical on new signings
It seems as though things are a bit gloomy at Tottenham right now. They got knocked out of two competitions in the span of a week and now, manager Mauricio Pochettino expressed his doubt as to whether the Lilywhites would be able to sign anyone in this window.
The Londoners had been linked with some players over the last few weeks. However, according to the former Espanyol manager, the Lilywhites might not be able to sign anyone in this window, although he did admit that anything could happen.
“You know how we work at the last minute everything can happen," he said. "A few days ago I was very optimistic about a realistic option to sign but today I am not optimistic at all."
#3 Hudson-Odoi not leaving
Callum Hudson-Odoi could be labeled as the star of this transfer window as most of the reports were surrounding this English youngster. There were stories of him joining Bayern Munich but now, that is not going to be the case according to Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.
Sarri praised the youngster for how he is playing but claimed that he is unhappy with the situation surrounding him. He also added that it is difficult to keep highly talented youngsters at the club but insisted that the club won’t be selling him in this winter market for sure.
“On the pitch he’s doing very well. I’m really very happy with him. I’m not very happy with the situation, but I know very well that every big team here in England has the same problem.
“It’s not easy to keep these young players. He is of course one of the best 18-year-old players in Europe, so it’s very, very difficult,” he said.
“The club told me he’s out of the market for sure and probably he will be out of the market in July.”
#2 Arsenal
Arsenal usually do their business in the last week of the winter window and that time is now upon us. The Gunners are looking to add two players according to Unai Emery and the updates here today shall reflect that.

#1 Rakitic and Fellaini
Ivan Rakitic has been the stronghold in midfield of Barcelona for a while now but with the addition of Frenkie De Jong next summer, the Croat’s position becomes untenable.
As a result, there is a chance that he could leave the club and if this report from Diario Gol is to be believed, then Chelsea are interested in acquiring the services of the player.
They state that Chelsea’s offer for the player will be good and that the former Sevilla star and Barcelona will study when it comes this summer.
Meanwhile, Marouane Fellaini might be out of Manchester United this window as the Red Devils are in talks with Chinese club Shandong Luneng over the sale of the player, according to The Telegraph.
