The champions of Europe have had quite a mixed bag of a season. The sacking of Roberto di Matteo and refusal to extend contracts of club legends have hit the headlines. Despite all these controversies, The Blues won the Europa League and qualified for the Champions League, having finished 3rd this season.

With FIFA 14 slated to release in September, I have assessed the players based on their accomplishments last season, and have made an educated guess as to what their ratings will be in the upcoming game.

Note : Only players who made a significant contribution this season have been included in this list.

Petr ?ech:

Not only did ?ech make his 100th appearance for the Czech Republic in March, this extraordinary goalkeeper also earned his 400th cap for Chelsea. He was second-only to David De Gea this season. Occasionally wearing the captain’s armband, Cech has been ever-inspirational with his performances.

Branislav Ivanovi? :

The 2012-13 campaign began on a sour note when Ivanovic was sent off during the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City. But he made amends by scoring Chelsea’s first Premier League goal of the last season against Wigan Athletic. “Bane” enjoyed a solid campaign, having made 55 appearances in the season. The season ended in the most spectacular manner for the Serbian, as he headed the winning goal in the last minute of the Europa League final.

David Luiz:

David Luiz has been one of my favourites this season. With Rafa Benitez promoting him as a midfielder, the Brazilian has entertained us with his brilliance, showcasing his amazing dribbling skills and scoring some awesome goals. According to me, he is one player who has improved a lot since the season began.

John Terry :

This hasn’t been a good season for the skipper. Having appeared in only 27 games, the captain was the favourite topic of internet memes, but was not able to make an immense impact on the pitch. To make matters worse, he fuelled further criticism as he rushed enthusiastically on to the pitch to hold aloft the Europa Cup despite not having played a minute in the final.

My FIFA 14 rating: 80

Ashley Cole:

Cole has been consistent throughout his Chelsea career. The left-back has appeared in 51 games for Chelsea this season. However, age seems to be catching up with the veteran defender.

My FIFA 14 rating: 82

César Azpilicueta :

This has been a terrific season for 22-year-old Azpilicueta, who appeared in 48 games (42 starts) in the blue jersey. Because of his extraordinary season, he also earned his first international call. Definitely one to look out for.

My FIFA 14 rating: 81

Ramires:

One of the best players of the Chelsea squad, Ramires proved his worth with his consistency. The Brazilian has been able to cement his place in the side, which was evident as Rafael Benitez opted not to rotate him too often. He played the full 90 minutes in the Europa League final to help the Blues lift the trophy.

Frank Lampard :

SL Benfica v Chelsea FC - UEFA Europa League Final

‘Legend’ starts with a L and ends with a D. So does ‘Lampard’. He is simply the best midfielder Chelsea have ever had. The number 8 became Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer with 203 goals, and was also Chelsea’s leading goal-scorer in EPL this season, scoring 15 goals. However, age seems to be catching up with the 34-year-old, who is now in the twilight of his career.

Oscar:

The ‘baby-faced dynamite’ had a brilliant season. The Olympics silver medallist announced his arrival to Stamford Bridge in style with two strikes in the space of a couple of minutes against Juventus and since then, has become a regular starter for the side.

Juan Mata :

FBL-ENG-PR-CHELSEA-EVERTON

The Chelsea Player of the Year has been in spectacular form this season. He has scored 20 goals and provide 35 assists in 64 games. Apart from the 2012 Euro glory and Europa league success, Mata has been the Premier League player of the month in October, and was also included in the PFA team of the year.

FIFA 13 rating: 86

My FIFA 14 rating: 89

Eden Hazard:

The £35 million winger has done justice to his price, and was also included in the PFA Team of the Year. Much is expected from the young Belgian in the near future.

FIFA 13 rating: 87

My FIFA 14 rating: 88

Victor Moses:

Moses has proved his class in the limited opportunities he got, including a MoM performance against Manchester United. He scored 10 goals in 43 appearances.

FIFA 13 rating: 75

My FIFA 14 rating: 80

Fernando Torres :

The Golden Boot winner of Euro 2012 had a decent season, scoring 22 goals in 64 appearances for Chelsea . His form has improved since the previous season, and he has showed glimpses of the form that warranted a 50-million pound price tag.
