Hit: Keylor Navas (PSG)

PSG's real MVP

There was no clean sheet for PSG custodian Keylor Navas, but he put on a resounding performance between the sticks against Bayern Munich.

He made five saves on the night, standing tall in the face of Bayern Munich's onslaught in the second half, to save PSG's beacon.

The former Real Madrid custodian produced two fine saves early on and read the game excellently, coming off his line to a clear the danger or punch the ball out of a congested area.

His experience in big games like this showed once again, as he was the standout performer for the hosts.

Flop: Bayern Munich's substitutes

Bayern Munich had as little quality off the field as much as they had on it. Their bench strength was shockingly poor on the night against PSG.

Hansi Flick introduced only Javi Martinez and Jamal Musiala as substitutes, neither of whom had any impact in the game.

Those who remained unused were Bouna Sarr, Tanguy Nianzou, Alexander Nubel, Josip Stanisic and Maximilian Zaiser, not exactly the roll call one would expect from a team defending their Champions League crown.

Injuries, of course, have played a part, but a desperate lack of quality options off the bench was disconcerting for Bayern Munich. Who knows, with a stronger bunch of substitutes, the game could've ended differently.

Hit: Lucas Hernandez (Bayern Munich)

Boy, what a talismanic performance Lucas Hernandez produced on the night!

The €80 million man from Atletico Madrid was rock solid in the Bayern Munich defence, frustrating PSG's marauding attackers with crucial interventions.

He completed four of his six attempted tackles and made three clearances, the best one being a last-ditch effort to deny Neymar in the dying moments of the game just as the Brazilian was about to pull the trigger.

Lucas Hernandez came one on one with the Brazilian as well as Mbappe several times but shut out both of them at the last minute, winning possession a staggering 12 times!

It was truly a defensive masterclass from the Frenchman!
