While Neymar is definitely not the first Brazilian to play for PSG, there have been many not just any ordinary players, but players of great quality from Brazil have represented PSG.

It was during the 1990's when the relationship between PSG and Brazil deepened. The then owners of PSG TV Canal started recruiting foreign talents and Brazilian' s become a center of attention in the transfer market for the Parisians.

The 1990's was also a time when the rivalry between two French giants PSG and Marseille was at its peak. Thus bringing in quality players was a must for both teams in order to stay ahead of their rival.

Not only in 1990's even after that the Parisians have been bringing in Brazilian's to the Parc des Princes. Therefore here we look at PSG's Top 5 Brazilian signing's-

#5 Lucas

RC Strasbourg v Paris Saint Germain - French League Cup
Lucas signing helped PSG make a statement in the transfer market.

The former Sao Paulo winger is not currently in the PSG's roster, but he will always be an important signing in the history of the club. Before leaving the club in January in 2018 he won 5 Ligue 1 with the club.

The significance of his signing can be traced back to the fact that PSG won the battle of signing him from the likes of Manchester United and Inter Milan.

It was the time of 2012 and PSG had just started a new era in their history under the new Qatari ownership and the fact that the Parisians were able to snap him up despite the fact that he had offers from the Red Devils and Nerazzurri helped PSG in stamping their authority in the transfer market.

The signing of Lucas helped PSG give a statement to the football world that under their new ownership, they not only have the money to sign players, but they also have the capacity to sign them under the noses of big European giants.

#4 Thiago Silva

Paris Saint Germain v Rennes - French League 1
Despite criticism Silva remained loyal to PSG.

The current PSG captain has been ever-present in the PSG backline and has helped the Paris based club to win 5 Ligue 1, 4 French Cups and 5 French League Cups. The former AC Milan centre-back is often regarded as the one best of his generation.

His signing was crucial to the Parisians because they built their backline around him and he has given them the stability at the back and he has been a proper captain and leader for them on the pitch.

During his time at Milan, many dubbed him to be the best centre back in the world and his signing once again proved that despite playing a less competitive league PSG could still sign the best players in the world.

Though he has been constantly criticised that during his peak hasn't played in a competitive league, where he could really test his abilities, he has still remained loyal to PSG.

#3. Ronaldinho

RONALDINHO - 09.03.2003 - Marseille / PSG - 30eme journee de Ligue 1 - Stade Velodrome - Marseille -
Ronaldinho often stepped up for PSG when they needed a hero.

Words are not enough to describe the Brazilian legend and how much joy he has given to football during his peak. But it was PSG where he really made a name for himself in Europe. FC Barcelona should be really thanking PSG for making Ronaldinho a star, who eventually went on to change FC Barcelona's history.

When the former AC Milan star joined PSG they were struggling really bad in the Ligue 1 and upon his arrival, he made a huge impact on the club.

He initially did not hit the ground running, but he made substitute cameos and influenced the game on his own. Whenever PSG needed a hero he often stepped up for the Parisians and become a fan favorite at the Parc De Princes.

Though he did not win anything with the club, but he made a huge impact on the club during his 2-year stay. The Brazilian is still remembered at the "Little Prince" at PSG.

#2. Neymar

Paris Saint Germain v Rennes - French League 1
Neymar signing has shown Europe that PSG can sign the very best from any team.

The former FC Barcelona star has been highly tipped to win the Ballon D Or in future and in order to achieve his dream he made a move to Parc De Princes. PSG bought him as their talisman who would lead them to Champions League glory.

The fact that PSG were able to sign Neymar not only represented that they are capable of spending big, but it also showed that they can spend big on the very best in the market.

No one expected PSG to pull off such a deal, but they did and now every European giant fears them in the transfer market and due to the Neymar effect, a club of Real Madrid's size has inserted Benzema's release clause at €1 billion, Isco and Asensio at €700m each, Carvajal at €350m, and Varane, Marcelo and Llorente all at €200m.

The impact PSG have made on transfer market since signing Neymar is the reason why he is No.2 on this list. Though many have called his move to Paris just a part of a bigger plan of his to move to the Bernabeu, in order to win the Ballon d'Or. But these are just rumors and nothing concrete can be established from it.

#1 Rai

Soccer - Rai
Rai is considered to be a club icon at PSG.

Rai may not be as popular as the other two No. 10 Brazilians Neymar and Ronaldinho, but he is definitely the more successful of the two during his time in Paris. Rai is the younger brother of Brazilian legend Socrates and he was a talismanic figure for PSG during the 90's.

In the summer of 1993, PSG acquired Rai form Sao Paulo and he stayed there for five years till 1998. He made an instant impact at PSG scoring the winning goal for PSG on his debut against Montpellier, but less for his goal it was his rabona trick that really amazed the home fans.

The former Sao Paulo attacking midfielder came with a big reputation and helped PSG win 1 Ligue 1, 2 French Cups, 1 League Cup and 1 UEFA Cup Winners Cup.

He stayed loyal to the Parc De Princes despite the fact that he had offers from many other big European clubs. Rai was a fan favorite during his time and is now considered to be a club icon.
