Where to even begin with Paris Saint-Germain? Les Parisiens have been very active in the transfer market and it doesn’t matter if you’re a top European side like Barcelona or a mid-table side like Eintracht Frankfurt, if PSG eye a player of your’s, there’s isn’t much you can do.
With affluent owners like their’s, PSG broke the transfer record when they signed Neymar from Barcelona. While they have won everything there is in domestic football, they still haven’t conquered Europe which is why they are still adding more quality to their side.
Ranked by Forbes as the 11th most expensive valuable football club, PSG have won four of the last five Ligue 1 titles. The 2016-17 season was a sort of anomaly as Monaco, with their young team, managed to win the title ahead of PSG.
Over the years, PSG have been involved in some prominent transfers. While many know them for their spending spree in the last four years, PSG signed the likes of Nicolas Anelka and Jay-Jay Okocha more than a decade ago for big transfer fees.
Ronaldinho was also at PSG before his incredible spell at Barcelona. He moved to Barcelona for an approximate fee of £25 million.
PSG – Recent Transfers
As stated earlier, Neymar was signed for a record fee - £199.8 million. The club also managed to sign Kylian Mbappe on a loan deal but will pay £166 million in the summer. The initial move was on loan so that PSG could bypass the system and avoid getting penalized.
Yuri Berchiche was signed from Real Sociedad to add more depth and quality at the back. Another former Barcelona star – Dani Alves -- moved to Paris in a free transfer.
Serge Aurier and Matuidi were sold to Tottenham and Juventus respectively while Jean-Kevin Augustin was sold to Rasenballsport Leipzig. Lucas Moura was sold to Tottenham in the January transfer window.
