#3 Wayne Rooney

One of the Premier League and Manchester United's greatest-ever players, Wayne Rooney is the Red Devils' all-time top goalscorer.

A prodigious talent, Rooney was destined for greatness during his Everton days. Manchester United signed him in 2004 for £33.3 million, and he proved to be a shrewd signing. Rooney made 559 appearances for the club, scoring 253 goals and providing 146 assists.

Under Louis van Gaal, Rooney often operated in midfield due to his excellent passing ability. The England international departed Manchester United in 2017 to rejoin Everton before retiring from the game in 2021. He is currently the manager of Derby County.

#2 Robin van Persie

Robin van Persie only spent three seasons with Manchester United, but his impact during that time was considerable.

One of the Premier League's best strikers during his time with Arsenal, van Persie joined Manchester United in 2012 in a nearly £28 million move. It soon became evident that this was a perfect match, as Van Persie was the best player during the 2012-13 season, helping Manchester United to the Premier League title, their last of the decade.

The Netherlands international scored 26 league goals and looked imperious at times during that season. Van Persie failed to replicate that level during his next two seasons with the club, though. But Manchester United fans remember him fondly for his world-class performances that led to a Premier League trophy.

#1 David de Gea

It is difficult to fathom where Manchester United would be without David de Gea's contributions in the last decade.

Arguably one of the best goalkeepers in the game in the last decade, David de Gea single-handedly won Manchester United a lot of matches. The Spain international made miraculous saves on a consistent basis, and without him, the Red Devils would have suffered a lot more.

De Gea won four Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year awards last decade, and was included in the PFA Team of the Year five times. The 30-year old has declined now, but his immense performances have not been forgotten. De Gea is a modern-day Manchester United legend.
