#3 Thomas Muller – 104 goals

In the last few seasons, Thomas Muller’s role has changed quite a bit. After emerging as one of the best poachers in world football in his first few seasons, Muller has become more of a creator of late.

However, he still likes putting the finishing touches. His record of 20 goals in 31 games in the 2015-16 Bundesliga campaign is his personal best, and he hasn’t come close to that tally in the last few years.

The German has, however, recorded an incredible 42 assists in the last two seasons combined, which is a testament to how well he has adapted his game.

With 104 goals to his name, Muller is third on our list and, surprisingly, the first Bayern Munich player to feature.

#2 Marco Reus – 117 goals

Marco Reus’ goal-scoring exploits first caught the eye during his spell at Borussia Monchengladbach. The German impressed straight away for Gladbach after joining them in 2009, and managed eight goals in his first season in top flight football.

His personal best of 18 goals in 32 games during the 2011-12 season for Gladbach earned him a move back to his boyhood club Borussia Dortmund.

Reus elevated his game at Signal Iduna Park and has been a key player for Dortmund. The 2018-19 season was his best for Borussia Dortmund, as he managed 17 goals and 11 assists in just 27 Bundesliga games.

Reus is second on our list, and will hope to score a few more in the coming seasons as Borussia Dortmund look to end Bayern Munich’s run of titles.

#1 Robert Lewandowski – 269 goals

Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski has dominated the goal-scoring charts in the Bundesliga in recent seasons. The Pole broke Gerd Muller’s record of 40 goals in a single season by going one better and finishing with 41 strikes last season.

Lewandowski’s incredible goal-return could catapult him to the Ballon d’Or award later this year as he shows no signs of slowing down despite being 32.

The Poland international has won four successive golden boot awards in the Bundesliga, and will look to make it five next season. He is the only player on this list to win the golden boot with two different clubs; his first came with Borussia Dortmund in the 2013-14 season.

Lewandowski will hope to match Gerd Muller’s record of seven Bundesliga golden boots next season. As if his exploits weren’t legendary enough in the German top flight!
