Inter Milan player ratings against Real Madrid

Samir Handanovic made sure Real Madrid didn't score more than three goals
Samir Handanovic made sure Real Madrid didn't score more than three goals

Samir Handanovic - 6.5/10

Samir Handanovic was the busier of the two goalkeepers on the night. Even though he was helpless on all three occasions that he conceded, he did make four saves against Real Madrid, including some important ones to deny Benzema towards the end.

Danilo D'Ambrosio - 6/10

Danilo D'Ambrosio was well off the pace during Real Madrid's counter-attacks and left plenty of gaps at the back. Vinicius easily beat him while laying that cross for Rodrygo's winner.

Stefan de Vrij - 6/10

This was another poor performance from Stefan de Vrij, who just continues to stoop to new lows game after game. The Dutch center-back was easily beaten on several occasions and wasn't dominating aerially either.

Alessandro Bastoni - 7/10

Alessandro Bastoni turned in another decent shift at the back for the Nerazzurri, showing great composure when Real Madrid swarmed the area. The 21-year old made the most clearances in the match (three) and also proved stronger in the air than any of his defensive counterparts.

Achraf Hakimi - 6/10

This was an opportunity for Achraf Hakimi to show Real Madrid what they've been missing but he instead produced a poor performance. His sloppy backpass was punished by Benzema, and he was nowhere near his best while marauding forward.

Nicolo Barella - 7.5/10

This was a superb performance from Nicolo Barella, whose movements were hard for the Real Madrid defense to deal with. He even assisted Martinez with an incredible backheel flick.

Marcelo Brozovic - 6.5/10

Marcelo Brozovic was a calming presence in the midfield in an otherwise chaotic match. The Croat often looked to recycle the ball and even helped out defensively, making two tackles.

Arturo Vidal - 6.5/10

Arturo Vidal was like the proverbial bull in a china shop, sloppy in possession and reckless with his challenges. He seemed too eager to jump into tackles without timing them accurately.

Ashley Young - 7/10

Ashley Young was solid on the ball and showed good positional awareness, but misplaced a couple of passes under pressure.

Lautaro Martinez - 8.5/10

Lautaro Martinez ended his barren run of five games without a goal
Lautaro Martinez ended his barren run of five games without a goal

Lautaro Martinez truly stepped up to the plate in the absence of Romelu Lukaku, scoring and assisting once goal each, both of which were brilliant pieces of execution from him. His duel with Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos was a joy to watch too.

Ivan Perisic - 7/10

After a quiet first half, Ivan Perisic came alive after the break, combining with Martinez for the equaliser.

Alexis Sanchez - 6/10

Alexis Sanchez did little after coming on and even wasted a nice free-kick by slamming it straight into the wall.

Radja Nainggolan - N/A

Radja Nainggolan came in the 89th minute and didn't see much of the ball.
