Reports: Real Madrid offer Chelsea £100m + superstar to sign Eden Hazard

Chelsea v West Bromwich Albion - Premier League
Eden Hazard's future has been subject to intense speculation

What's the rumour?

Real Madrid have long been linked with a move for Eden Hazard and now a report in The Daily Express claims that Los Blancos are ready to offer Gareth Bale plus £100 million to sign the Chelsea superstar.

According to the report, Hazard is Real Madrid's number 1 priority in the summer transfer window and the All Whites are set to completely overhaul their squad in the coming window.

Manchester United have also been previously linked with Gareth Bale, but it seems like they have cooled their interest in the Welsh winger after the signing of Alexis Sanchez.

In an earlier interview with French TV channel Canal+, Hazard said:

"Everyone knows the admiration I have for Real, but for now I'm a Blue."

His father, Thierry also added to the speculation by telling Belgian paper Le Soir last year that Hazard had not signed a new contract with Chelsea because he was considering his options:

"What I can say about Eden is that he refused an extension of contract to be able, if necessary, to follow the interest of the Real, where he would see himself well.

"But, as I speak to you, there is no contact. Eden is only one of the parties to the contract."

The heart of the matter

After having a stunning start to his Real Madrid career, Gareth Bale has struggled for both form and fitness, and the same report states that Madrid are now ready to let the Welshman go.

Gareth Bale was absolutely brilliant in the Premier League when he played for Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea might not be losing out on too much if they sign Gareth Bale and get £100 million for their star man.

The Eden Hazard to Real Madrid rumour just refuses to die down and it does seem that this summer transfer window, Los Blancos will go all out to sign their man. Also, with Hazard yet to sign a new contract, this long talked about move might well come to fruition in the summer transfer window.

Author's take

Gareth Bale might not have had the best of seasons so far, but there is no denying his obvious quality. Still only 28, the Welshman is definitely one of the best players in world football when fit, and an offer of £100m + Gareth Bale seems like a good deal for Eden Hazard if he refuses to sign a new contract.
