What's the rumour?

Manchester City are reportedly keeping tabs on current Bundesliga top scorer Luka Jovic, according to Sam Lee of Goal.

City manager Pep Guardiola has prioritized the signing of a deep-lying midfielder and a left-back or left wing-back in the summer, but he is willing to bolster his squad with the addition of the free-scoring Jovic, granted he's available for the right price.

The 21-year-old forward has made his mark this season and is already being linked with some of the biggest European clubs like Barcelona and Chelsea, with the both the clubs in dire need of reinforcements in the attacking third.

In case you didn't know...

The striker is on a two-year loan from Portuguese club Benfica, a club that has seen two of its brightest talents in Bernardo Silva and Ederson join the Premier League giants in recent years.

The Serbian international became the youngest goalscorer in Red Star Belgrade's history when he opened his account at just 16 years of age, and in the current season he entered the history books again as he became the youngest player in Bundesliga history to score five goals in a single game.

Jovic has found the back of the net 15 times this season, two more than Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski, who had established a monopoly over the Golden Boot award for some time now.

The heart of the matter

The player's current employers Frankfurt are hopeful that they can trigger a clause to sign him for a paltry sum of €6 million this summer, before selling him to his suitors for a fee that can go as high as €60 million.

Jovic's stellar displays in front of goal mean he has found himself on top of the shopping list of Barcelona and Chelsea, with the Catalan giants currently leading the pack to secure his services.

It is expected that if Man City want their man, they will face tough competition from Barca, who are eager to land a proper back-up for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez.

Rumor Rating - 5/10

Though Sam Lee is a very reliable source for Manchester City news, a striker is not a top priority for Guardiola at the moment, so any development on the move seems unlikely at the moment.

Also, Barcelona's heavy interest in the player means any other club will have to dig deep for his signature.
