Report: Manchester United target Jose Mourinho approached by PSG

PSG made an approach for Mourinho through his representative Jorge Mendes

Paris Saint-Germain have approached for Jose Mourinho to replace Laurent Blanc at Parc des Princes in the summer.

The Portuguese tactician was sacked from his post at Chelsea last December and since then has been without a job. Several clubs have been linked with a move to acquire his services and Sky Sports report that PSG are now looking to bring him to France.

Blanc has been with the Ligue 1 outfits since 2013 when he replaced Carlo Ancelotti at the club. Under the former Manchester United defender's guidance, PSG have struggled in the European competition and this season, they were knocked out in the quarter-final by Manchester City 3-2 on aggregate.

After their exit from Europe's elite club competition, PSG made an approach for Mourinho through his representative Jorge Mendes. However, the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid manager is keen on managing United.

The Old Trafford club currently have Louis van Gaal in charge, who has one more year left on his contract. The Red Devils have struggled under the Dutchman's guidance, who have been eliminated from the group stages of the Champions League and also from the Europa League.

I am in a position to be open to any club: Mourinho

Van Gaal's future at United remains uncertain and Mourinho is linked as a possible candidate to replace him. The latter wants to wait and see the developments that will unfold until the end of the season.

Should United turn down a chance to secure the Portuguese manager, he will then consider PSG's offer, which will be a credible option when he decides to return to management. In the past, Mourinho has expressed his desire to continue in England after revealing his family in happy in the country.

"[Van Gaal] is my friend, I worked with him for a few years. I am always linked with jobs and in the summer I will have a job, but in this moment I can promise you I do not have a contract with any club," Mourinho told Sky Sports.

"I am not in a position to turn [jobs] down, I am in a position to analyse. I am in a position to be open to any club or national team."

"I have to be honest, if possible I would prefer a club but I must analyse to see what is best for my career and to be back with everything I have."

"I would prefer [to be in England]. I love the country, I love the football here, my family is very stable and happy. If possible yes, it would be my first choice."
