What's the story?

According to reports, Callum Hudson Odoi handed in a transfer request to force his move to Bayern Munich after the Bavarians made a £40 million bid for him.

In case you didn't know...

Callum Hudson Odoi's current contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of the next season and he reportedly rejected the contract extension with the club.

He wants to make a move away from the club in order to get more game time and Bayern Munich is his preferred destination. RB Leipzig's and Liverpool are also interested in him which forced the Bavarians to offer much more than his market value.

The heart of the matter

According to Sky Sports, Hudson-Odoi is intent on joining Bayern and now submitted a transfer request to Chelsea as he attempts to secure his transfer to Bayern.

The German club submitted a number of bids for the 18-year-old throughout January, and with the transfer window closing on Thursday, Hudson-Odoi now appears keen to make the switch to the Bundesliga.

That would see him follow in the footsteps of fellow Premier League youngsters Reiss Nelson and Jadon Sancho, who were impressive for Hoffenheim and Borussia Dortmund since joining from Arsenal (on loan) and Manchester City respectively.

Bayern's long-term servant Arjen Robben will leave at the end of the current season, and the German club seems to see the Englishmen as a perfect long-term successor for the former Dutch international.

Rumor Rating- 7/10

Both Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben will leave Bayern at the end of the current season and the German Giants will be short of wingers for the next season. A number of young English players succeeded since moving to Germany, which might influence Hudson-Odoi to move to the Bundesliga.

What's next?

Chelsea will play Sheffield on Wednesday for the FA Cup fourth round match later today, whereas Bayern Munich will host VfB Stuttgart at Allianz Arena for their first home game of 2019.
