What's the news?

According to reports, Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has turned down moves to Juventus, AS Monaco and Fulham during the January transfer window.

In case you didn't know...

Gary Cahill joined Chelsea from Bolton Wanderers in 2012 and played 289 games across all competitions for the club. He was the part of the PFA Premier League Team of the Year on two different occasions and helped the Blues win two Premier League titles.

However, at 33, his powers are on the decline and he is struggling to get into the Blues' starting XI. He is yet to start a league game this season and has made only seven appearances.

Cahill's current contract with the club will expire at the end of the current season and he is unlikely to sign an extension.

The heart of the matter

According to Sky Sports, Cahill turned down potential moves to Juventus, Monaco, and Fulham during the January transfer window.

Chelsea were prepared to allow Cahill to leave the club in January, with the England international not being a part of Maurizio Sarri's first team plans.

Fulham and Chelsea agreed to a deal for a permanent transfer but the 33-year-old was unable to agree on personal terms with Claudio Ranieri's side.

The former England international also turned down potential moves to the Serie A giants Juventus and Ligue 1 outfit Monaco this month, in order to continue fighting for his place under Sarri.

Rumor Ratings- 7/10

Sky Sports is considered to be a reliable source when it comes to EPL transfer news. Further, Chelsea are also looking to get rid of their fringe players in order to make room for new signings.

What's next?

Cahill might well choose to move on after his contract runs out at the end of the season but he will hope to make a mark under Sarri in the next few months.

Chelsea lost two games in a row in the Premier League and will be looking forward to returning to winnings ways when they play Huddersfield Town at Stamford Bridge on February 2.
