Chelsea are willing to sign Luka Jovic to strengthen Sarri's squad for the next season.

What's the story?

According to the German media outlet, Bild, Chelsea is eyeing a summer move for Serbian striker, Luka Jovic, who is currently enjoying a successful campaign on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.

According to the report, The Blues have already tabled an offer worth €45 million to secure the services of the highly-rated centre-forward in the summer.

In case you didn't know...

The 21-year-old has a contract with Portuguese outfit, Benfica, until 2021. The striker is currently into the final six months of his loan spell in the Bundesliga.

The Serbian international has been enjoying an incredible season in front of the goal. With 19 goals and 5 assists registered to his name, the striker has gathered attention across Europe. Spanish giants, FC Barcelona, have been linked with the Frankfurt man and according to the news from Spain, the Catalans have agreed on personal terms with the striker for a potential summer move.

However, Bild reports that Chelsea is eyeing a move for the Serbian. Maurizio Sarri's side is looking to replace Olivier Giroud who's current contract with the Blues expires at the end of the season.

The heart of the matter

Chelsea has already secured the signing of Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund. However, the American would be joining them next season. Club's talisman Eden Hazard has already expressed his desires to play for Real Madrid and would be open for a summer move if the Los Blancos come calling.

With Olivier Giroud's contract set to expire at the end of the season, it is highly unlikely that the French striker would be given a contract extension. Hence, the London club is already looking to strengthen their attacking squad for the next season.

On the other hand, FC Barcelona has identified the Bundesliga top-scorer as a potential replacement for Luis Suarez, who is into the latter stages of his career.

What's next?

While their target is leading the top-scorers chart in the Bundesliga, Chelsea is struggling in the EPL, fighting for the top-four spot. Maurizio Sarri's men currently occupy the sixth spot of the Premier League table - 15 points adrift of the top and just 1 point separating them from the fourth-placed Manchester United.

The Blues will now take on the latter in the 5th round of the FA Cup. It remains to see which of the two clubs, FC Barcelona and Chelsea, win the race to sign the talented German striker.
