What's the story?

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly is trying to convince former Real Madrid teammate Marcelo to join him at the Turin-based outfit in the Serie A.

In case you didn't know...

The 33-year-old forward left the Bernabeu last summer after having made over 450 appearances for the club and winning a host of trophies, including two La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns.

Since Ronaldo's departure, rumours have been rife of a reunion between the Portuguese forward and Marcelo. The duo have an excellent relationship, on and off the field, having played together since 2009.

Marcelo is currently out of favour under manager Santiago Solari and appears to be well on his way out of the Bernabeu, if reports are to be believed.

The heart of the matter

According to AS, Ronaldo has not given up in trying to convince Marcelo to join him at Juventus.

The Portuguese ace and the Brazilian left-back are reportedly in communication daily, and it is during these chats that Ronaldo continues to lure him to Turin.

Marcelo's contract with the Los Blancos outfit expires in 2022, after the defender signed a new deal with the club in September 2017.

The Brazilian has been open about his desire to finish his career at his "second home" Real Madrid, but recent snubs from the starting eleven may change his mind.

Rumour rating: 7/10

Although a Ronaldo-Marcelo link-up would be a big advantage for any team, Juventus have a great left back in Alex Sandro, who is contracted to the Italian giants till December 2023.

There is also the fact that Marcelo remains an important figure at Real, with club president Florentino Perez reportedly unwilling to lose yet another senior player.

There are currently no negotiations for a move or even a Marcelo-Sandro switch so only time will tell if such a move will materialise in the near future.
