Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been dealt a blow in the chase for Porto striker Jackson Martinez after his agent said he is tempted by a move to Italian club Napoli.

All three Premier League sides are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements after lacklustre seasons in front of goal. Martinez, of Porto, has been highly sought after for quite some time across Europe.

It was thought that Chelsea would target Martinez over the summer but his attentions have been turned to Diego Costa, who is now the talk of Europe after a stunning season with Atletico Madrid.

However, this may all be a ploy by his agent to start a bidding war by suggesting that if anyone wants him before signing for Napoli, they can bid £32 million.

The player’s representative, Manuel Manzo, told Radio CRC: “Jackson would like to join a great club like Napoli.

“He even talked to Zuniga about it, and would form a great scoring duo together with Higuain.

“But the only way to purchase him is by paying the 40 million euros (£32m) set for his release clause, then it will be over to Porto.”
