Rondón & Barnes go head to head in the battle of the Big Forwards! – Fantasy Premier League Tips – Gameweek 27 Reviewed

The Watford attack tore Cardiff apart - but they have a tough run coming up!
The Watford attack tore Cardiff apart - but they have a tough run coming up!

GW27 is behind us and what a strange week it was! The lowest average of this season so far – with an average score of 35 points. Much of that was driven by the blank game-week this weekend with Brighton, Chelsea, Everton & Man City all without fixtures.

This weekends top points scorer was Watford midfielder Gerard Deulofeu who scored the most points of any game-week this season (23) with 3 goals, 1 assist and maximum bonus points! 42,000 people have already transferred Deulofeu in, but proceed with caution… he has Liverpool (A), Man City (A) and Man Utd (A) in 3 of his next 4 games and I don’t expect him to repeat this weekend’s heroics again!

I picked out Rondón in my 3 players to pick ahead of GW27 article and he delivered with 1 goal, 1 assist and maximum bonus points (12 points in total). He took 7 shots, made 2 key passes and was dominant against the 10 men of Huddersfield, he really should have scored with a header as well. I’ve brought him in this week for the injured Marcus Rashford, who’s expected to miss the GW28 fixture on Wednesday against Crystal Palace and could also miss out in GW28.

Newcastle have a great run of fixtures with Burnley (H), West Ham (A), Everton (H) and Bournemouth (A) and crucially don’t blank in GW31 so it’s a proactive move for a man in form. Also take a look at Almirón who looked lively with 4 shots and 6 key passes.

Ashley Barnes is another popular move this week and also doesn’t blank in GW31. He scored 1 goal and took 1 bonus point (7) and had 3 shots. Barnes is arguably the in-form player with 4 goals, 1 assist and 4 bonus points in 4 games. Burnley have a nice run of fixtures in Newcastle (A), Crystal Palace (H), Liverpool (A) and Leicester (H) so he is another big forward to keep an eye on.

Injuries marred the Manchester United vs Liverpool game with 4 players being brought off! Herrera, Mata, Lingard and Firmino all picked up knocks so don’t rush to bring any of those in. Keep an eye out for Marcus Rashford as I mentioned before – he was limping heavily throughout the game and Solskjaer said “If he plays, I’ll be surprised” ahead of a trip to Selhurst Park this mid-week.

The most important advice I can give you is to remember tomorrows deadline, which is 18:45 GMT so don’t miss it. I’ll be back on Wednesday with my 3 budget picks ahead of GW29. Good luck folks!
