Barcelona show interest in signing 23-year-old Chelsea star placed on loan market: Reports

Hansi Flick's side could sign one of Enzo Maresca's wingers this season.

Barcelona are allegedly interested in signing Mykhailo Mudryk on a loan switch next January after Chelsea's recent decision regarding the attacker.

Mudryk, 23, has failed to establish himself as a regular starter at the Blues since arriving from Shakhtar Donetsk in a potential £89 million move in January 2023. He is currently considered a squad option behind the likes of Noni Madueke, Pedro Neto, and Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho.

So far this campaign, Mudryk has registered three goals and five assists in 15 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea. However, the pacy winger has yet to register a goal contribution in seven Premier League matches for his club.

Now, according to Caught Offside, Enzo Maresca's outfit have decided to make the Ukrainian available for a temporary switch in the winter transfer window. Barcelona, Newcastle United, and Crystal Palace are keeping tabs on the star.

While Barcelona are keen to add Mudryk to their ranks to help maintain their La Liga title bid, Newcastle's interest are currently the strongest. Magpies manager Eddie Howe is believed to be an admirer of the right-footed wide operator.

Jadon Sancho speaks up on Chelsea's victory over La Liga giants Barcelona in 2011-12 term

Speaking to club media, Jadon Sancho shared his two cents on his team's UEFA Champions League semi-final win over Barcelona in 2012. He elaborated:

"For me, ever since I was growing up, Chelsea just seemed to be like a family, a winning culture. I remember when they were in the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona. I was with my friend and he bet me... he said if Chelsea won he would do some sort of forfeit. I can’t remember the forfeit."

Reminiscing about the Blues' 2-2 draw at Camp Nou, Sancho added:

"I just remember that when Ramires scored that chip away, he was upset! And then obviously Fernando Torres scored that last-minute goal to close the game out. It was funny. Then, obviously, the final speaks for itself. [Didier] Drogba coming in clutch. For them to just bounce back the way they did, it just shows the mentality of top players, top teams, and top coaches."

The Blues' 4-3 victory on penalties over Bundesliga side Bayern Munich in the 2011-12 summit clash led them to their first-ever Champions League trophy.

On the other hand, Sancho has started his life at Chelsea on a great note this campaign. The 24-year-old has assisted five goals in eight overall outings.
