Manchester United have set their sights on Sunderland's teenage midfielder Chris Rigg, according to Fichajes.com. The 17-year-old has caught the eye with the Championship side this season and has earned admirers at multiple clubs in the Premier League.

Rigg has registered three goals from 20 games across competitions for the Black Cats this campaign. He has displayed maturity and vision beyond his years and the Red Devils are ready to prise him away.

Manchester United have a history of nurturing young footballers and turning them into established faces. They have targeted younger talents in the transfer market as well of late.

New Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim also remains invested in youth and is eager to revamp his midfield in 2025. Christian Eriksen's contract expires at the end of this season and he hasn't been offered a new deal yet.

Meanwhile, Casemiro has also been feeling his age in recent years and remains linked with an exit from Old Trafford. Manchester United are planning for the future and have identified Rigg as an option.

However, prising him away from the Stadium of Light won't be a walk in the park. Sunderland are determined to extract a premium fee for the teenager and will only let him go for £20-25m. While that fee won't be a problem for the Red Devils, they are likely to try and bring it down during negotiations.

Manchester United have struggled to score goals of late, and are expected to sign a new striker in 2025. The Red Devils brought in Joshua Zirkzee this summer, but he has been a disappointment so far.

The Dutchman has registered just three goals in 22 games for the Premier League giants this season. Rasmus Hojlund has fared better, finding the back of the net seven times in 17 outings.

While the Danish striker has scored five goals in his last four games, Manchester United are still looking for an upgrade. A recent report from TuttoJuve has stated that Ruben Amorim wants to add Dusan Vlahovic to his roster in January.

The Portuguese head coach would love a reunion with Viktor Gyokeres at Old Trafford, but understands that prising him away in mid-season won't be financially possible. Vlahovic has registered 11 goals from 19 games this season and his contract expires in 2026. It is believed that Juventus could let him go for €60m.
