Sevilla’s talented young left-back Alberto Moreno is set to reject a transfer to Liverpool in order to move to Real Madrid according to reports from Spanish paper Marca.

The 21-year-old defender’s has become one of the hottest prospects in La Liga following a series of impressive displays for Sevilla. He capped off his wonderful season with the Europa League trophy and a call-up to the Spanish World Cup squad.

Liverpool are just one of a number of clubs that are known to be tracking Moreno along with Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City and Italian side Napoli. Marca claim that Moreno would prefer a move to Real Madrid because of his close relationship with Sergio Ramos and the possible departure of Fabio Coentrao.

Sevilla President Pepe Castro has revealed that in the winter they rejected an approach from a Premier League side, whilst expressing his desire for Moreno to remain with the club for as long as possible. Marca’s report suggests that the defender could be available for around £15 million.

“Last December we rejected an important offer from a Premier League side for Alberto Moreno. There are many clubs tracking him weekly,”

“In December we understood that it was not the right moment to sell him. But if we received a very good offer for him we will consider his exit.”

“I believe that he is young and he is going to have a very successful career. And I hope he stays at Sevilla but if we received an amazing offer he will leave.”
