Rumour: Bayern Munich enter race for Chelsea outcast Juan Mata

German giants Bayern Munich have reportedly entered the race to sign Chelsea reject Juan Mata this January transfer window.

The Spanish midfielder, who was the Chelsea player of the year on two consecutive occassions, has been frozen out from the first team set up since Jose Mourinho took over the reins at Stamford Bridge. The playmaker has played only 13 games in the Premier League so far this season.

Pep Guardiola is looking to add to his midfield ranks after reports emerged that he is unhappy with German veteran Bastian Schweinsteiger. He could join the likes of Mario Goetze, Tony Kroos and Thomas Muller in a strong attacking side.

The road to a possible move to the Alliance arena could be filled with hurdles, considering the talented 25-year old is being tracked by many European giants like PSG, Manchester United and Real Madrid after talks of a possible Chelsea exit emerged.

Juan Mata could become Bayern Munich’s second high profile signing this winter, after the club snapped up Robert Lewandowski on a free transfer.
