Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are said to have reached an agreement over the transfer of Diego Costa with Chelsea agreeing to pay the release clause for the Spanish International, reports reputable Spanish newspaper El Confidencial.

Costa, aged 25, has a release clause of €60 million which Chelsea are more than eager to pay as they line up the Spanish International to fill in the boots of ongoing striker Samuel Eto‘o and Demba Ba who will be leaving the club at the end of this season.

It is being said that Mourinho’s first preference was AS Monaco’s Radamel Falcao, however, the latter’s knee injury that he suffered in January has ruled him out as an option as of now.

Costa has been one of the most standout players in the Spanish domestic league this season and has hit the net 25 times this season, helping Atletico Madrid lead the La Liga standing table.

He will reportedly join the Blue on June 30th, and will be the club’s most expensive signing in the history.
