Chelsea are set to seal the £32 million transfer of Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa after the Champions League final at the end of the month, according to the Daily Star.

Reports claim the deal will be completed after Atletico play Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Portugal on May 25th.

It means the Blues could have the big-money deal, and potentially the summer’s biggest deal, ready to be announced before the World Cup kicks off in Brazil on June 12th.

Several key players of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea squad will be in action during the summer tournament in Brazil, with Costa possibly lining up with his new teammate Fernando Torres during the competition with Spain.

It’s understood Chelsea have already agreed the £32m deal with Atletico, triggering the 25-year-old’s release clause, freeing him to discuss personal terms that could see him triple his wages to around a reported £150,000 per week.

Costa has been a long-term target of Chelsea after a stunning season in Spain that has seen him scored 27 Liga goals and fire Atletico to the brink of league and European glory.
