Rumour: Chelsea reach verbal agreement for Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa

According to the Metro, the Blues look to have won the race for coveted striker Diego Costa after having reached a verbal agreement with Atletico Madrid for the player’s transfer this summer.

Chelsea have been hot in pursuit of the latest European star, along with a host of other clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, PSG and Liverpool. The cash rich Russian, Roman Abramovic, is ready to meet the player’s £32m buy-out clause in an attempt to solve the ongoing crisis in front of goal for Jose Mourinho.

The 25-year old has been sublime this season, scoring 19 goals in 21 matches in the La Liga. He has been instrumental in Atletico Madrid’s astonishing rise to fame in recent months.

The deal could see Belgium goal keeper Thibaut Courtois make his move to Atletico Madrid permanent, where he has spent the last 2 and a half years on loan from Chelsea.
