Sources suggest that Jose Mourinho and Chelsea are plotting an audacious swoop for ex Real Madrid striker – Gonzalo Higuain. The Argentine currently plays his trade in the Italian Seria A, with Napoli.
Napoli broke the bank to land the striker from Real Madrid only this summer, in a multi-million pound deal. The forward has hit the ground running, scoring 15 and setting up 7 in 25 appearances in all competitions.
Jose Mourinho knows the forward well since his time at the Bernebeu, where he spent the best part of 3 seasons. Although the Portuguese fielded Karim Benzema ahead of Higuain during his tenure at Real Madrid, the two are said to have good rapport and still maintain a healthy relationship.
This could mean curtains for the likes of Demba Ba and flop Fernando Torres, who have failed to provide the cutting edge in front of goal this season. As the cash rich Blues foray into the market in search of a proven goal scorer, Gonzalo Higuain could be top of their list.
