According to Daily Mail, Manchester City are set to bid an astounding £30 million to lure Southampton teen sensation Luke Shaw to the Etihad this January transfer window.

The under-21 international has become a permanant fixture in the new look Southampton side and has impressed immensely since their promotion to the Premier league. The Englishman has started 18 games for the club so far this season in the domestic league.

The blue half of Manchester are all set to blow away competition from Chelsea and fierce rivals Manchester United who have been previously linked with the bright defender.

The 18-year old, who signed a 5-year contract extension with the Saints recently in July, could become the most expensive full back in the world, eclipsing the previous record of £29.5 million paid by Barcelona for Dani Alves in 2008.
