Manchester City are reportedly the latest club to join the queue building to sign Romelu Lukaku in the summer, aiming to use him replace Edin Dzeko, who is seeking a move away from the club at the end of the season, according to the Sun.

The striker has been on loan at Everton this season where he has thrived for the second Premier League season in a row after impressing for West Bromwich Albion last season as well.

Everton are heading the queue currently as they hope to bring Lukaku back to Goodison Park on a permanent deal for next season, but with Chelsea’s reported £25 million asking price proving a sticking point for the Toffees, City could swoop for him in order to replace the out-going Dzeko.

Dzeko has often found himself the third choice striker for City behind Alvaro Negredo and Sergio Aguero and despite a recent run in the side due to the injury sustained by the latter, he has instructed his agent to find him a new club who values his talents.

A move to Inter Milan is reportedly on the cards as they look to shake up their squad in the summer with their recent investment, with Nemanja Vidic having already spoken to the Bosnian about the prospect of following him to Serie A next season.

City are prepared to sanction his sale in order to fund their own summer transfer dealings and hope to replace him with Lukaku, knowing they have the financial muscle to beat Everton, Tottenham and Newcastle to his signature.
