Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly dismissed Chelsea’s enquiry about Luka Modric saying that he is not for sale.

The 28-year old Croatian international was signed by the current Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho in August 2012 for €40 million from Tottenham Hotspur to land him in the Spanish capital.

As Chelsea look to put a lamentable season behind them, manager Mourinho is determined to strengthen the squad by making lucrative signings this summer.A striker with ‘killer instinct’ is something which the Portuguese has inveighed against albeit throughout the season, bolstering the midfield is yet another concern.

However, Madrid have made it clear that they will not entertain any offers for the former Tottenham player, with three years remaining on his contract at the end of the season.

“Modric would be Mourinho’s first choice to improve his midfield in the summer and Roman Abramovich is also a massive fan – but it’s been made very clear that this one is going nowhere,” a source told Goal.

After a stuttering first season with the Los Blancos, Modric has become an integral part of Real Madrid this campaign and has acted as a catalyst for Madrid’s Kings’ cup success and their road to Champions League final. The Croat has went on to make 47 appearances this season for Bernabeu side this season, scoring 2 goals and providing 9 assists in the process.
