Rumours: Luka Modric to Chelsea - What say you?

We have woken up this morning to all sorts of rumours and speculation. Unfortunately, when it comes to a situation we have at the moment, you can pretty much predict what is going to happen!

Jose Mourinho leaves Real Madrid on June 2nd after the Spanish season has finished. He has two games remaining as their manager and we all expect him to be named the new Chelsea manager in an emotional return as boss the morning after.

Now, because of this situation, we are being linked with a number of Real Madrid players from Ronaldo to Varane, Fabio Coentrao and now Luka Modric and until the close of the transfer window at the end of August, expect to be linked with plenty more.

So what of the rumour this morning about Modric? Do you think there is any truth in it at all or just the press putting two and two together making five?

It’s not the first time we have been linked with a move for the Croatian, is it? His name has been linked with Chelsea for over two years now. We have had bids made and rejected when he was at Spurs so it’s obvious that Roman and the Chelsea board have identified him as someone they want here.

His time in Madrid hasn’t exactly been ideal though and this is possibly where this rumour is coming from. The fans didn’t take to him in the beginning and he struggled to make an impact in the team. Of late, he has played a lot more but with Mourinho confirmed as leaving, you have to question his future there.

Would Luka Modric fit into the current Chelsea team now? That’s the question. And who would he replace?

Chelsea have plenty of options available to them already in Mata, Oscar, Ramires and Lampard through the middle so I cannot see where he would fit in.

Like I said, this could all be paper talk and the press clutching at straws to fill their pages but it is something that could have substance at the same time thinking about the whole situation there now. We need to consider Modric as a realistic target so, I want to ask YOU the Chelsea fan the following question:
