Manchester City have received a massive injury boost as both Sergio Aguero and Matija Nastasic are set to return from injury earlier than expected.

Nastasic, who suffered an ankle injury in pre-season during the Barclays Asia Trophy, is back in training and will miss Monday’s match against Newcastle United, but should be available for the match against Cardiff next Sunday.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini said: “He is not ready for the next match but next week he will work normally with the whole squad.”

Sergio Aguero missed all of City’s pre-season as well as Argentina’s friendly in Italy last week, but should be available to Pellegrini for the match on Monday.

Pellegrini said of Aguero’s chances of featuring in the match against Newcastle on Monday, “Maybe. He has no problem. He worked with us normally for the last ten days so he is not a problem.”
